William Eugene Dilbeck Jr., 76, of Cuba, passed away, on September 12, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, in the comforting presence of his loving children.
On June 17, 1949, William was born to the union of William Dilbeck Sr. & Phyllis Mae in Missouri.
William courageously and honorably served his county in the United States Army during Vietnam. After serving his tour, he maintained his duty to our county by serving in the Army National Guard.
Following his military service, William became a welder & held jobs with Continental Boiler in Illinois as well as Canam Steel in Washington, Missouri.
In his earlier years, William was a member of the First Baptist Church in Valmeyer, Illinois.
William had a passion for the outdoors & enjoyed hunting as well as tending to his garden, where he grew some of the hottest peppers. He was also a talented wood craftsman. When he wasn't outside, William loved to watch his John Wayne westerns. Most of all, William loved spending time with his family and especially his many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew & loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dilbeck Sr. & Phyllis Covert; one son, Larry Dilbeck; four brothers, Virgil Dilbeck, Timothy Dilbeck, Joseph Dilbeck & Charles Dilbeck; two sisters, Carla Henne & Yolanda Welker; one great-grandchild, Khloe Downey.
William is survived by his three children, William Dilbeck III of Oxly, Shelia (Dennis) Vaughn of Bourbon & Billie (Curt) Wiles of Cuba; six sisters, Sue Bronaugh of Illinois, Sheila Jetter of Illinois, Cindy Dilbeck of Oxly, Ruth Galle of Illinois, Pamela Newberry of Illinois & Sherry (Bill) McCaslin of Illinois; nine grandchildren, Joshua Dilbeck, Kimberly Maserang, Megan Bullock, Aaron Badger, Cody Stokes, Richie Porter, Shawn Wiles, Kyle Wiles & Bethany Wiles; eighteen great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kiara, Kendall, Destiny, River, Kaden, Jackson, Melanie, Lilly, Adeleigh, McKenzie, Liam, Lincoln, Mason, Lilly Nichole, Eli & Abigail; nieces; nephews; other relatives & many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
