Vernon Joseph Voss, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, May 8, 1940 in Sullivan, Missouri to the union of George and Edith (Fortner) Voss. He left from this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home at the age of 80 years.
Vernon was united in marriage to Karen Thompson on November 27, 1960 in Oxnard, California. To this union three children were born Joe, Jason and Debbie. After the death of Karen on September 6, 2002, Vernon was united in marriage to Mary (Rush) Widener on September 29, 2007 in Cuba, Missouri.
Vernon was the owner/operator of Voss Quarry in Cuba for forty-five years. Vernon honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was always creating and designing new things, to make his job and life easier. In his spare time he enjoyed gambling, gold mining, fishing and traveling.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents George and Edith (Fortner) Voss; first wife Karen (Thompson) Voss; one son Jason Voss; three sisters Mary Bernard, Virginia Swab and Debbie Voss.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Mary (Rush) Voss of the home; four children Joe and wife Dianna Voss, Debbie Voss, Josh Widener all of Cuba, Ben and wife Leeanne Widener of Bourbon; one daughter-in-law Jennifer Voss of Cuba; nine grandchildren Jodi and husband Adam Rutz, Justice, Jayden, Samantha and Jacob Voss, Brendan, Lydia, Rhys and Dana Widener; two great-granddaughters Elsie and Whitlee Rutz; one sister Francis Voss of Denver, Colorado; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Miles, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the American Lung Association.
