Thomas Joseph 'Tommy' Hughes

Thomas Joseph Hughes of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, October 4, 1971 at Rolla, Missouri to the union of Jimmie Hughes and Diane (Nee: Michalik) Hughes and left from this life on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 41 years. Tommy as he was known by all his family and friends graduated from Cuba High School in 1990. Tommy was an excellent Basketball and Baseball player during high school and had been a St. Louis Cardinal fan for years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood working and just being outdoors. He was a very talented butcher and enjoyed growing a beautiful vegetable garden. Tommy always looked forward to holidays, family gatherings and deer season. He could sing all of the Willie Nelson songs, wrote amazing poetry and he was currently attending the Assembly of God Church in Steelville. Tommy's proudest moment was thirteen months ago when he became dad. Tommy was a loving son, grandson, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Tommy is preceded in death by his grandpa Joe Michalik, grandpa and grandma Hughes, uncles, aunts and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his precious son Braiden Joseph Hughes of Salem, father Jimmie C. Hughes of Cuba, mother Diane and husband Sonny Sparks of Cuba, one brother James Joseph and wife Kelly Hughes of Steelville, two sisters Cheri Lynn and husband Terry Tune of Rolla and Carolyn Sue and husband Danny Sanazaro of Cuba, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 till 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with special music "My Brother My Friend", "Dreams" and "Amazing Grace". In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Braiden Joseph Hughes College Fund in care of Diane Hughes. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Hughes family
