Susie Ann Wilkinson

Susie Ann (Ayres) Wilkinson of Leasburg, Missouri was born April 4, 1945 in Potosi, Missouri, to the late Clifford Ayres and Goldie (Neff)(Dean). Susie departed this life on Sunday, January 9, 2022, having reached the age of 76 years, 8 months and 5 days at St Claire Hospital in Fenton, Missouri.

Susie married her late husband John Wilkinson of 62 year at Flint Hill, Missouri, on February 6, 1960. Susie was baptized February 25, 1975, she and her family were members of Springtown Baptist Church.

Susie worked at Crown Candy Factory in St. Louis, Missouri in the early 1960s. Susie along with her sister Barbara obtained her Certified Nurse Aide. Susie obtained her Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician certification November 1992 and worked as a Respiratory Therapist at St Louis Regional Hospital and at Vencor Hospital in St Louis, Missouri. In 1985, Susie and her husband started the family business Highline Plating where she was employed until returning to her former position at Vencor Hospital from 1989 through 1999. Susie and her family resided in Mineral Point, Missouri, prior to relocating to Leasburg, Missouri, in the early 1990’s to be closer to the family business. Susie loved to work in her flower garden, read, camp and travel.

In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her late husband John, two sons Johnny Guy and Gary Wilkinson; one daughter-in-law Carla Wilkinson; three brothers, Charles (Bill), Carl Willard (Wid), and Claude Wendell Ayres; one sister, Wilma (June) Benson and two infant siblings Allen Edward and Ida.

Susie took great pride in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, cats and her little dog Lady.

Those who are left to treasure her memory are her four children Debbie Hedrick of Fenton, Missouri, David Wilkinson of Salem, Missouri, Clifford Wilkinson of Leasburg, Missouri and Norma Payne and husband Roger Sr of St. James, Missouri; two sisters Sally (Ronnie) Skiles and Barbara (Edward) Schoppenhorst. Brother-in-laws Vearn “Butch” Wilkinson and wife Loretta, Buddy Bowen, and sister-in-law Sharon Wilkinson. Ten grandchildren: Carl “Randy” Hedrick, Jonathan Wilkinson (Beth), Ashley Wilkinson (friend Tom Green), Derek Payne (Karlee), Daemon Payne (Kaitlin), Roger Payne Jr II (Ashley), Tiffany Payne, Kayla Wilkinson, Nicholas Wilkinson, and Kyle Wilkinson; sixteen great-grandchildren: Krystal Chapman; Caralynn and Carlina Hedrick; Eric, Dean and Joseph Rothgeb; Landon Spitzmiller; Katelyn, Emma, Jaedyn, Carter, Maxwell, Madelyn, Roger Jr III, and Maralynne Payne; and Brayden Carman; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 10:30 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Walter Williams, officiating.

Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the American Heart Association.
