Stanley R. Brewer

Stanley R. Brewer of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, November 10, 1931 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of Lawrence and Florence (Nee: Carroll) Brewer. He left from this life on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the St. James Veterans Home at the age of 88 years.

Stanley proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He served one year and twenty-three days overseas on the front line and one year, nine months and nine days in the Army before being discharged in 1954. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

After returning home from Army, Stanley was united in marriage to Mildred Ehren on February 19, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church and to this union three children were born: Stanley Michael, Jr., Teresa and Brad.

Stanley worked thirty-seven years as a machinist for the Ramsey's company. He traveled to Sullivan for twenty-seven years and then to St. Louis for the last ten years. The last several years of his career he was the shop steward. Stanley believed in what was right was right.

During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, especially deer and turkey. He went on a hunting trip with Brad to hunt bear in Canada. Stanley loved being outdoors.

He spent years showing horses in three different circuits. He was one of the founding members and past president of the Cuba Saddle Club. He raised cattle, worked in the garden every day during the spring and summer. He raked hay for Brad and the neighbors for many years.

Stanley's yard could have won most beautifully manicured award every month. He spent hours mowing grass, trimming everything and he would even trim the ditch line of his neighbors. He enjoyed being outdoors and he always wanted to stay busy. He was a very talented man who could do anything he set his mind to.

What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his family and friends. Stanley was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Florence Brewer; one brother Lawrence and wife Betty Jo Brewer; one sister Oneda and husband Thurman Chandler; brothers-in-law Oren Chandler, Michael and wife Linda Ehren, Donald Ehren, Bob Clark; sisters-in-law "Sister Mary Claver" Florence Ehren, Barbara and husband Don Steinmann, Delores Ehren, Ealnor and husband Don Patrick, Evelyn Marr, Cecilia and husband John Browning and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty-five years Mildred Brewer of the home; three children Stanley Michael, Jr. "Bud" and wife Tammy Brewer of Safe, Missouri, Teresa and husband Greg Fudge of Cuba, Brad and wife Tara Brewer of Cuba; six grandchildren Shawna Brewer of Springfield, Missouri, Zach and wife Courtney Fudge of Cuba, Josh Fudge and companion Nicole Coppinger of Cuba, Devan Brewer and companion Tim Menzel of St. Louis, Kelsey Brewer of St. Louis and Regan Brewer of Cuba; five great grandchildren Johny Fudge, Ryan Groom, Charlie Fudge, Benny Fudge and Maxx Fudge; one brother Vesper and wife Maxine Brewer of Cuba; sister Patsy Chandler of Cuba; sisters-in-law Margaret Clark of St. Louis, Loretta and husband Peter Jakubiec of Michigan, Frances and husband Jim Wilkerson of Rolla, Joann and husband Kenny Glaser of Owensville, Becky Ehren of Winston, South Carolina, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic and in the best health interest of everyone, visitation and graveside service will be private.

Graveside service, with full military honors will be held at Kinder Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Backpack Program in Stanley's memory.
