Shirley J. Bandy of Cuba, Missouri and formerly of Belleville, Illinois was born to the union of Kenneth and Mathilda (Manning) Ambler on Saturday, May 25, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She left from this life, surrounded by her family, at her home on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Shirley worked several years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, helping with home care and hospice families. She enjoyed Elvis, crafts, gardening, bingo, being involved in politics and she could regularly be found at the Cuba City Council meetings. Shirley was spicy, gritty and a very patriotic lady. She always stood up for what she believed in and she loved spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mathilda (Manning) Ambler; husband Ronald J. Bandy; three brothers Kenny, Harry and Roy Ambler. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her five children Ken and wife Pat Coverdell of Kansas City, Missouri, Ernie and wife Shell Coverdell of Edgar Springs, Missouri, Tammy and husband Bill Voellinger of Licking, Missouri, Karen and husband Glenn Groom of Cuba, Missouri, Jodi and husband Jerry Smith of Vienna, Missouri; one step-son Ronald J. "Skip" and wife Laurie Bandy, II of Belleville, Illinois; one brother James Ambler of West End, North Carolina; one sister Rose Warnsing of Sigel, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 7:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Ernie Coverdell and other family members, officiating.
