Shirley May (Bales) Callahan, 80, of Cuba, passed away, Monday, August 26, 2024, in the comfort of her home, with her daughter, Linda by her side.
On April 23, 1944, Shirley was born to the union of Carl Bales and Marie (Almo) in Sullivan, Missouri.
Shirley had been attending 7th Day Adventist in Bourbon.
In her younger years, Shirley loved to go camping by the river and going fishing with her son-in-law, Andy, Shirley got more enjoyment watching the river roll by while Andy reeled in the fish. In the later years, Shirley enjoyed sitting cozy in her favorite spot and watching a good sci-fi or horror flick on T.V. and when she wanted something more lighthearted, she would watch home improvement programs. Her other favorite pastime was taking a nice refreshing nap. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marie Bales; one son, Kenny Miller; Brother-In-Law, Herman “Pete” Gruver.
She is survived by her three sons, Raymond Miller of Cuba, Tommy Miller and wife Sandy of Cuba and Bobby Miller of Bourbon; two daughters, Tina Steele and husband Mike of Texas and Linda Moore and husband Andy of Licking; two sisters, Sharon Gruver and husband Jack of Cuba and Sue Gruver of Cuba; thirteen grandchildren, Raymond Miller Jr., Sherri Miller, Joey Miller, Chirstopher Steele, Brian Steele, Tabitha Hernandez, Matthew Steele, Trinity Steele, Richard Eickhorst II, Ashley Moore, Beverly Moore, Kristy Miller and Jessica Miller; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Miller, Chasity Miller, Jaxson Miller, Chloe Miller, Keira Long, Colton Long, Eli Steele, Ellie Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, Olivia Hernandez, Haven Hernandez, Lucas Moore and Ronald Woodruff; one great-great-grandchild, Levi Miller; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 12:00 P.M. Burial with a graveside service will take place at Meramec Hills Memorial Lawn following the funeral service.
