Rosemary Hamilton

Rosemary Hamilton of Cuba, Missouri was born on Saturday, January 4, 1930 at Manchester, Missouri to the union of John B. and Mary C. (Nee: Koebel) Menz and left from this life, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Cuba at the age of 87 years. Rosemary graduated middle school from St. Joseph's Catholic School in St. Louis and graduated high school from the Cuba High School. Rosemary was united in marriage to William Edward "Ed" Hamilton on April 14, 1951 at Cuba and they were the proud parents of William Edward, Jr. and Bobby Joe. Rosemary spent her life taking care of her home and family. She spent hours sewing, quilting, crocheting and embroidering. Every summer, for many years, Rosemary and Ed would put in a large garden and then spend days canning. She was an excellent cook and her family truly enjoyed her apple butter, dill pickles, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, meatloaf and cheesecake. She was also Ed's wonderful assistant, whether it be farming, camping, fishing or working on automobiles. They were always side by side for nearly sixty-four years. In early 1972, they purchased a resort at Reed Springs and in 1974 they sold the resort and moved back to Cuba and started farming again. In the spring of 2015, Rosemary began attending the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba. Rosemary was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, sister-in-law and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Menz, husband Ed Hamilton, two brothers Johnny Menz and Donald Menz, sister Florence Pinnell, two brothers-in-law George and wife Agnes Hamilton and James L. Hamilton, sister-in-law Helen and husband Joe Michalik and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving sons; William E. "Ed" and wife Jerry Hamilton, Jr. of Centralia, Missouri and Bobby Joe and wife De Dee Hamilton of Cuba, three grandchildren; Amanda and husband Kevin Erisman of Centralia, Missouri, Bobbie Joe and husband Bryant Lee of St. Peters, Missouri and Andrea and husband Matt Houseworth, Warrensburg, Missouri, five great grandchildren; Lance, Grant, Rebecca, Brynna and Brooklyn, two sisters; Catherine Lackner of Cuba and Mary McPherson both of Cuba, three brothers Louis and wife Margaret Menz of New Haven, Missouri, Tom and wife Gerry Menz of Owensville and Gene and wife Sue Menz of Owensville, sister-in-law Betty Hamilton of Washington, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Celebration of mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W. School Street with Father Rich Boever as celebrant. Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Lance Erisman, Grant Erisman, Bryant Lee, Matt Houseworth, Tim Hamilton and Adam Menz. Interment and prayers will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery, Cuba. Memorials may be made to Hamilton Cemetery in Rosemary's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Hamilton family.
