Rhudell Jeffords

June 19, 1921 — October 14, 2013

Rhudell Jeffords (nee: Mott) of Brookport, Illinois was born to the union of Lloyd and Lora (Nelson) Mott on June 19, 1921 in Renshaw, Illinois and left from this life surrounded by her family on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Stearns Nursing Center in Granite City, Illinois at the age of 92. Rhudell spent her life taking care of her home and her family. Each year she planted a garden and would then spend hours canning vegetables and making all kinds of jelly that she shared with everyone she knew and loved. Tending to her flowers and yard was an everyday event and her hard work didn't go unnoticed because she won awards for the "Yard of the Month". Rhudell and Les traveled and camped in their younger years, always taking some of the grandsons with them. They belonged to the Massac Modulators CB Club and her handle was "Silver Streak". She was always cooking and baking, especially her chicken and dumplings, in case family or friends stopped by. During the holidays there was homemade Christmas candy and a tree decorated in the color red. Red was truly the color that Rhudell liked the most. The past several years Rhudell didn't want to leave home because who would take care of her cats and fill the hummingbird feeder. Rhudell was an amazing lady who was full of love, laughter, smiles and the rock of the family. Throughout her life the things she treasured the most was seeing her daughters grow up, watching her grandsons become men and being able to see the great grandchildren continue her legacy of love, laughter and smiles. Rhudell is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Lora (Nelson) Mott; one brother Lloyd Mott, Jr. and her former husband Charles Leslie Jeffords and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her two daughters Sandra Sue and husband Dick Mizell, Patricia Ann and husband Ellis Wayne Reynolds all of Granite City, Illinois; four grandsons Tim Mizell and friend Julie of Granite City, Illinois, Don and wife Lesa Mizell of Cuba, Missouri, Bryan and wife Olivia Reynolds, Jason Mizell and friend Jessica all of Granite City, Illinois; two granddaughters-in-law Debye Mizell of Granite City, Illinois and Delaine Young of High Hill, Missouri; eleven great-grandchildren Noah, Isaiah, Amanda, Jaime, Kayla, Macey, Tyler, Austin, Michael, Drew and Dillan; three brothers-in-law Ned and wife June Jeffords of Golconda, Illinois, Ted and wife Juanita Jeffords of Manteno, Illinois, William "Shot" and wife Alice Jeffords of Golconda, Illinois; niece, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and many friends.
