Raymond C. Matchell

Raymond "Ray" C. Matchell of Cuba, MO was born December 1, 1924 at St. Louis, MO to the union of John and Elizabeth (nee: Rumphel) Matchell and left from this life on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Cuba, MO at the age of 81 years 3 months and 22 days. Raymond was united in marriage to Dorothy Summers on December 11, 1980 at Potosi, Missouri. Ray was an iron worker for Alberici Construction Company in St. Louis, MO from 1957 until he retired in 1984. Ray was a loving husband, dad, Gramps, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; John and Elizabeth Matchell, one daughter Evelyn Hottle, one brother Joe Matchell and a host of other relatives and friends. Those who are left to mourn his passing is his loving wife Dorothy Matchell of Cuba, one son Raymond II and wife Sherrie Matchell of Festus, MO, three step sons Jim and wife Lana Haffer of Steelville, MO, Raymond and wife Joan Haffer of St. Louis, MO and Bob and wife Janet Haffer of Sullivan, one step daughter Mary and husband Charles Turner of Farmington, MO, one brother John and wife Marie Matchell of Bolivar, MO and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, March 24th from 4 to 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service will be conducted 11 AM Saturday, March 25th at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba with Pastor Elmer Louck officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Ray Matchell III, Blake Haffer, Dale Turner, Todd Turner, Randy Haffer, Billy Haffer, Walter King, Otis Free, Lester Vance and Michael Edward. Burial followed at Courtois Cemetery in Berryman, MO with full military honors.
