Ray E. Meyer

Ray Earnest Meyer of Cuba, Missouri was born September 14, 1941 at Sedalia, Missouri to the union of Murrell and Marcelene (nee: Davis) Meyer and left from this life on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri at the age of 75 years. Ray was united in marriage to Nancy Moore on April 4, 1966 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union five children were born; Robyn, Patricia, James, Michael and Keith. Ray proudly served in the United States Army from January 15, 1963 till January 18, 1966. He earned the Good Conduct Medal the Vietnam War Medal and the Expert Rifle Medal. Ray worked for GTE in St. Louis for twenty years before he became the owner/operator of Rade Telcom in Cuba for thirteen years and he retired in 2012. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba. What Ray loved most in life was his family and spending time with his friends. Ray was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousins and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Murrell and Marcelene Meyer, one son Keith Meyer, one brother Al Meyer and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Nancy Meyer of the home, four children Robyn and husband Duane Beavers of Oak Harbor, Washington, Patricia Harris of Cuba, James Meyer of Union and Michael and wife Bobbi Jo Meyer of Cuba, seven grandchildren Michael Harris, Kasey Beavers, Felicity Meyer, Margaret Meyer, Ray Meyer, James Durbin and Kimberly Meyer, one brother Paul and wife Adeline Meyer of Whitter, California, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home. 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 11:00 a.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, with Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Special recorded music by Elvis will be "How Great Thou Art". Interment and prayers will follow at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation in Ray's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Ray's family.
