Peggy (Stovall) Grubaugh

November 6, 1936 — March 28, 2022

Margueritte Bess “Peggy” Grubaugh of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, November 6, 1936 in Owensville, Missouri to the union of Lowell and Bessie (Spurgeon) Stovall. She left from this life on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the age of 85 years.

Peggy as she was known by all, was united in marriage to Benjamin Grubaugh, Jr. on February 4, 1956. To this union four children were born Dale, Rae Jean, Becky and Darryl.

Peggy graduated from Owensville High School in 1954 and soon after went to work for Deb Shoe in Owensville. Where she and Bennie met. She also worked at Brown Shoe Company in Steelville as an “office gal”, as well as a receptionist for Dr. Louis Kaplan and Dr. Repazo, both practiced in Cuba. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Cuba Manor as a commissary clerk and assistant activities director.

Peggy was a longtime member of Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church in Cuba. She had many passions in life. She loved to work and be productive. She loved to cook for family and friends. She loved her home, garden, flowers and yard. She enjoyed feeding the birds, especially the hummingbirds. She loved to watch the deer and other wildlife that would come in her yard. She enjoyed her enormous and ever-growing collection of cookie jars.

She had a large heart and was always caring for someone. She even volunteered at Cuba Manor, helping take care of the residents. Most of all, she loved her family and was very proud of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all their children. Peggy always enjoyed all the family visits.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Bessie (Spurgeon) Stovall; husband of fifty-six years Benjamin Grubaugh, Jr. one brother Dwight Stovall.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her four children Dale and wife Dannette Grubaugh of Hollister; Rae Jean Conway of Cuba; Becky and husband Bobby Tate of Springfield and Darryl and wife Joy Grubaugh of Cuba; six grandchildren Erica Grubaugh of Kansas City, Erin and husband Jacob Fox of Ozark, Elyssa Grubaugh of Hollister, Ethan Grubaugh of Hollister, Phillip and wife Alicia Grubaugh of Huntsville and Michelle and husband Karan Madra of Rolla; five great-grandchildren Lilliana, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Easton and Harper; one brother Gilbert and wife Thelma Stovall of Reeds Spring; one sister Pat Pounds of Overland; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and s host of friends.

Peggy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Grubaugh, officiating.

Interment will follow at Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville, Missouri.

The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Grubaugh family.
