Peggy J. Vitali of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, April 19, 1933 at Desloge, Missouri to the union of Walter Hayes and Edna Pearl (nee: Roberts) Bridgewater and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri at the age of 84 years. Peggy was united in marriage to James Vitali on November 3, 1951 at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba and they became the proud parents of Jackie, Tina, Tami and Jimmy. Peggy was a lifetime member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a Franciscan for many years. "Franciscans continue to share the good news of God's love in ways that they hope will inspire people of our time." She graduated from Cuba High School in 1951. Peggy worked at a few places but her greatest job was being a wife, mom and grandma. Peggy's eyes would always light up when she was talking about her family. Her family enjoyed Peggy's homemade pies and bread. She would spend days sewing clothing for her children and she made many crocheted items for her family and friends. When their children were younger, they spent many weekends camping. After the children were grown, Peggy and Jim enjoyed going to Branson and traveling. In her spare time, she was an avid reader. Peggy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Edna Bridgewater, sister Judy Bruns, daughter-in-law Kathie Vitali and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband of sixty five years Jim Vitali of the home, three daughters; Jackie and husband Jimmy Mace of Rolla, Tina and husband Paul Peereboom of Australia and Tami and husband Mark Downing of Cuba, one son Jimmy Vitali of the Lake of the Ozarks, six grandchildren; Hannah and husband Beket Edwards of Rolla, Logan Mace of Rolla, Jessica Peereboom of Australia, Chad and wife Ericka Downing of Cuba, Amanda and husband Mark Caravelli of St. Louis and Alicia Vitali of the Lake of the Ozarks, nine great grandchildren and one more on the way, brother-in-law Joe and wife Mary Jane Vitali of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba with Father Rich Boever and Father James Finder as co-celebrants. Interment and prayers will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba.
