Paul L. Mullen

January 13, 1922 — March 8, 2013

Paul L. Mullen of Cuba, Missouri was born January 13, 1922 to the union of James Riley and Effie Mae (Nee: Purvines) Mullen and left from this life on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Veterans Home of St. James at the age of 91 years. Paul proudly served in the United States Army from November 27, 1942 till September 26, 1945. He served overseas for two years five months and 1 day. He was awarded 6 Bronze Stars for campaigns in Sicily, Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was also award a Purple Heart on April 6, 1945. After the service Paul was a cement finisher for many years at the Mullen Contracting Company in St. Louis. After Paul retired he stayed at the farm and did his own doctoring of the cattle and he took care of any stray animal that came to visit and they always stayed. He enjoyed sitting under the oak tree and watching the cars go by was his favorite pastime. Paul was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul is preceded in death by his parents James and Effie Mullen, six brothers; Charles and wife Marie Mullen, Ancel C. and wife Ruth Mullen, James K. "JK" or "Ken" and wife Virginia Mullen, William J. "Joe" and wife Virginia Mullen, Alfred F. and wife Theresa Mullen and Glenn Mullen, two sisters Mary Hannah and husband Harry Karberg, and Edith A. "Edie" and husband John Jennings and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 10 AM till 12 Noon at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Veterans Organizations in Paul's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Mullen family.
