Paul G. Hughes of Cuba, Missouri was born on November 2, 1944, in Cuba, Missouri to the union of Hoyt and Viola (Worley) Hughes. He left from this life surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his home at the age of 78.

 

Paul was united marriage to Pauline Mincher on January 2, 1965. To this union three sons were born Phil, Steve and Ron. After Pauline passed away, Paul was united in marriage to Lisa Marchi on February 22, 1989, in Las Vegas.

 

Paul in his younger years worked for McDonnell Douglas, Echo Supply and he owned and operated a Texaco Station in Cuba. He retired from Mullally Distributing after thirty-five years of dedicated service as a Route Salesman. He made many friends along the way and he enjoyed their friendship.

 

After retirement he loved to be outside. He took special care of his yard, did small engine repair. He enjoyed going to deer camp every year. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching them play. The love of his life was spending time with his five-year-old grandson and “Best Buddy” Elias. They spent many days playing outside, riding the tractor, talking and PaPa telling him stories.

 

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Hoyt and Viola (Worley) Hughes; first wife Pauline (Mincher) Hughes; one grandson Stevie Hughes; five brothers Edward S., Bernie E., Ervin, Jim and Carl Hughes; two sisters Patsy Hughes and Bonnie Litty-Stephens; three brothers-in-law Jim Palmer, Jim Powers and Jack Cavanaugh.

 

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of thirty-four years Lisa (Marchi) Hughes of Cuba; four sons Phil (Denise) Hughes of Cuba, Steve Hughes of Bourbon, Ron (Tracey) Hughes of Cuba and Jason Happle of Cuba; one grandson Elias Happle of Cuba; two brothers Arthur (Dixie) Hughes, Joe (Jackie) Hughes all of Cuba; three sisters Fern Powers of St. Louis, Gloria Cavanaugh of Sullivan, Barb Palmer of Cuba; one sister-in-law Eileen Hughes of Cuba; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

 

In keeping with his wishes, Paul will be cremated.

 

Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

 

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, 7:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Bro. David Hatcher, officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to a College Fund for Elias Happle, c/o Lisa Hughes.
