Patrick L. 'Pat' Mullen

Patrick L. "Pat" Mullen of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, October 5, 1934 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of Henry Joseph and Florence (Nee: Walden) Mullen. Pat went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan at the age of 83 years. Pat proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from the Navy on July 10, 1972 after twenty years of dedicated service. Pat retired as SMC and he earned the 3 Good Conduct Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, 2 Vietnam Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After retiring from the Navy, Pat came back home to Cuba where he met, fell in love with and married Nancy Harding on August 15, 1975 at Cuba. Pat was the proud father of Cheri, Patrick, Amanda and Angie. Pat worked construction for several years. He enjoyed building homes for people. He worked in real estate and had few factory jobs along the way. He worked for the Crawford County RII School District as a bus driver for fifteen years. He loved working on his farm, taking care of his cattle, his horses and working on his tractor. He spent hours brush hogging, riding horses and building things. His cabin was his last project that he built. What he truly loved most in life was spending time with his family and friends. Pat was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, cousin and friend of everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pat is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Florence Mullen, one daughter Cheri Thiele, two brothers Russ and Cliff Mullen, one sister Nancy Mullen, two brothers-in-law George Martin and Bill Glaese and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of forty-three years Nancy Mullen of the home, three children; Patrick Mullen of Rolla, Amanda and husband Clifford Swyers of Steelville and Angie and husband Dempsey Callahan of Rolla, ten grandchildren; Josh and wife Christina Politte, David and wife Stephanie Thiele, Chasity Thiele, Hannah Thiele, Donavan Callahan, Dominique Callahan, Dalton Callahan, Addie Swyers, Allie Swyers and Leland Swyers, four great grandchildren, four brothers; Delbert and wife Joann Mullen of Cuba, Joe and wife Rose Marie "Ree" Mullen of Union, Mike and wife Ann Mullen of Cuba and Phil and wife Linda of Cuba, four sisters; Mabel Martin of Cuba, Shirley Parker of Dickinson, Washington, Estell and husband Bill Imes of Winthrop, Washington and Caroline Glaese of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. In keeping with Pat's wishes, he arrived at the cemetery by horse and wagon and he was laid to rest on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Mullen Family Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. A memorial service, with full military honors, will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2192 Lindberg Road, Cuba (at the cabin Pat built). DUE TO WEATHER THE SERVICE WILl BE HELD AT BOB'S GASOLINE ALLEY, 822 BEAMER LANE, CUBA. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Pat's family.
