Obituary

Norbert L. Reinsch, of Cuba, Missouri, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on December 28, 1943, in Koeltztown, Missouri.

Norbert was united in marriage to Lorene Bauer on September 19, 1964, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg. Their union was blessed with three children: Julie, John, and Jenny.

Norbert dedicated 38 years to his role as President of Sonn Signs & Decals, Inc. in St. Louis, where his commitment to his work was evident. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including gardening, birdwatching, fishing, and gigging. Time spent on his beloved John Deere tractor brought him much joy. Norbert and Lorene shared countless memories traveling to watch their children and grandchildren participate in sports, band and other activities.

He also contributed to his community through coaching youth baseball, basketball, and softball and his involvement in his earlier years with the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, the Cuba Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Christina (Heckman) Reinsch; his sister, Dorothy (Clarence) Huhn; his brother, Eddie Reinsch; and his sister-in-law, Rose Reinsch.

Norbert is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Lorene Reinsch of Cuba; his three children, Julie (Greg) Bayless of Cuba, John (Jennifer) Reinsch of O’Fallon, and Jenny (Todd) Hoshaw of St. Peters; and seven grandchildren: Jacob and Jonathan Bayless, Anna, Matthew, and Owen Reinsch, and Ryan and Sarah Hoshaw. He is also survived by his brother, Jerome Reinsch of Wardsville; his brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law Kathy Reinsch of Loose Creek, Henry Bauer of Jefferson City, Mary Schwartz of Westphalia, Rita Hinton of Jefferson City, Poncho Klebba of Jefferson City, Glenn Stinson of Jefferson City; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory, and also at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday, January 17, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral mass at 11:00 AM.

Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 School Ave., Cuba, Missouri, 65453.
