Michael M. "Mike" Mathews

Michael M. “Mike” Mathews of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, October 20, 1965, in Buena Park, California. He left from this life on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 55 years.

Mike was the Kitchen Manager at Missouri Hick Bar-B-Que in Cuba He was no stranger to demanding work, and he spent several years in the kitchen of a few different restaurants. He always wanted to make sure that everyone enjoyed their meal. In his spare time, he enjoyed being on the river, scuba diving, yardwork, woodworking, taxidermy, and he was a music enthusiast listening to metal and hillbilly blues. He adored his wife, children and especially being grandpa to the joys of his life. Mike was successful at many things in life and could share many remarkable stories, but his greatest stories were all about his grandkids. They were the greatest joy of all!

Mike is preceded in death by his father Bernice Alexander.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife and soulmate Kelly (Mead) Mathews of Cuba; mother Carole (Flahan) Alexander of Cuba; four children Lorelei Mathews of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Taylor Doyle of Victorville, California, Ian and wife Taylor Mathews of Rolla, Savannah Mathews of Cuba; six grandchildren Cy Mathews, Liam Doyle, Damon Moses, Kylie Mathews, River Adams and another one soon to be; brother Steven Mathews of Neosho; sister Teresa Baynes of Cuba; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In keeping with his wishes, Mike will be cremated.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, 3:00 p.m. at the Meramec River (Riverside Road Access) off of Hwy. O, Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family at Peoples Bank (Michael and Kelly Mathews Account).
