Maxine C. Sturgell

Maxine C. Sturgell of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, December 26, 1932 in Corning, Arkansas to the union of Charles Monroe and Edna Alice (Wallace) Cherry. She left from this life on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Steelville Living Center in Steelville at the age of 89.

Maxine was united in marriage to James W. Sturgell, Sr. on December 7, 1962 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Maxine was a homemaker. She enjoyed taking care of her home, cooking, canning planting flowers, collecting arrowheads and spending time with her family and friends.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents Charles Monroe and Edna Alice (Wallace) Cherry; two daughters Barbara White and Deborah Boldt; one sister Pearl Rush.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband James W. Sturgell, Sr. of Cuba; two sons James W. and wife Maggie Sturgell, Jr. of Affton, Bruce Sturgell of Hillsboro; son-in-law Fred and wife Judy White of Cuba; two sisters Helen McKay of Marmaduke, Arkansas and Joyce Freire of Paragould, Arkansas; one brother Buck Cherry of Deshay, Arkansas; five grandchildren Bruce Sturgell, Jr. of Portland, Oregon, David Jones and Dawn Boldt both of Warner Robins, Georgia, Shane Boldt of Rolla; Charles and wife Lucy White of Cuba; six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Don Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Ft. Leonard Wood State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, Missouri.
