Martha Anna Sellers

May 3, 1934 — June 7, 2019

Martha Anna Sellers of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, May 3, 1934 at Charlotte, North Carolina to the union of Leo and Martha Ellen (Nee: Rountree) Winkels. She went home to be with The Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis at the age of 85 years.

Martha was united in marriage to Ralph S. Sellers on May 3, 1958 at Chokio, Minnesota and to this union three children were born; Ralph B., William, and Martha Ellen.

Martha graduated from St. Theresa College, Winona, Minnesota and she earned a doctorate in chemistry from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. Martha retired from Northern Virginia Community College, as a professor, after twenty-five years of teaching Chemistry.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Gone with the Wind and 1776. She was an avid fan of baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. In her younger years, camping at the Grand Teton National Park and traveling were some of her favorite things to do.

Martha was truly a Southern Lady who loved her family, God, Church, caregivers and her friends from graduate school. She was an excellent cook, talented teacher, fan of folk music and she loved her dogs "Boo" and "Roo".

Martha was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded by her parents Leo and Martha Ellen Winkels, husband Ralph Sellers, grandson Daniel Sellers, two brothers; Leo and John Winkels, sisters-in-law Mary Lee Brennan, Elizabeth Adcock, brother-in-law Richard Sellers and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children; Ralph B. and wife Sabra Sellers, William Sellers, and Martha Ellen Sellers all of Cuba, four amazing grandchildren; Alex Sellers and fiancé Claudia Garcia of Cuba, Sabra Ellen Sellers and partner John Hackett of Ellisville, Sylvia Sellers and partner Brian Gresser of Ellisville and Grace Sellers of Cuba, one awesome great grandson Seamus Hackett of Ellisville, brother Charles Nicholas and wife Evelyn Winkels of Springfield, Virginia, brother-in-law Donald and wife Loretta Sellers of Cuba, sister-in-law Patricia Jane Sellers of Raleigh, North Carolina, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2019 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

Celebration of Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba with Father Paul Clark as celebrant.

Interment and prayers will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba.

Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Saint Francis, 1001 14th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901, in Martha's memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Sellers family.
