Luvondia Burke

Luvondia Darlene (Akers) Burke of Cuba, Missouri was born in Brushy Missouri on Sunday October 18,1942 to Golden "Bud" Akers and Velma Akers, nee Johnston. She passed away at the age of 83 years, one month, and 9 days on Thursday, November 27,2025 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri in the comforting presence of her beloved family.

Luvondia graduated from Pacific High School with the "Class of 1960".

On June 4,1980 Luvondia was united in marriage to Leonard Raymond Burke and to this union one son, Matthew Burke, was born.

Luvondia worked various jobs through the years, but the one she treasured most was her many years at the Cuba High School. In these 16 years she created special friendships with her colleagues, but most of all, she cherished the bond she had with the children she treated as her own.

Upon retiring, Luvondia enjoyed doing what she did best, taking care of her family.

Luvondia was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Burke; her father, Golden "Bud" Akers; her mother Velma Goff and stepfather Edgar Goff; her brothers: Carmel Akers, James Akers, Vernon Akers and Hershel Akers.

Luvondia is survived by her beloved children, Jerry (Angela) Jenkins of Sullivan, MO; Connie Jenkins of San Antonio, TX; David Jenkins of Opelousas, LA; Donna Jenkins (Albert Glore) of Steelville, MO; and Matthew Burke (Kylene Brant) of Sullivan, MO; Grandchildren: Chelsea (Kamryn) Aghaee of Charleston, WV; Brett (Emma) Simshauser of Clinton, MO; Levi (Nicole) Simshauser of St. James, MO; Wesley Jenkins of Cuba, MO; Shayne Simshauser (Nadeen Sawaged) of Broomfield, CO; Andrew Simshauser (Mychaela VanPelt) of Cuba, MO; and stepson John Eric Burke (Laura) of Desoto MO; Great-grandchildren: Bruce Simshauser of Clinton, MO; Xaiden Simshauser of St. James, MO; Henry Simshauser and Oliver Simshauser both of Cuba, MO; one sister Marilyn Brinker of Plano, TX;  dear friend and caretaker Joyce Burke of Leasburg, MO; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A visitation for Luvondia Darlene Burke will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory, Cuba. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment & graveside service will take place at Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit, Missouri.

Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren: Chelsea Aghaee, Brett Simshauser, Levi Simshauser, Wesley Jenkins, Shayne Simshauser, and Andrew Simshauser.
