Lucille L. McLain (nee:Wohlschlaeger) of Cuba, Missouri formerly of South St. Louis County was born to the union of Robert C. and Lena (Glenz) Wohlschlaeger on September 14, 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at The Arbors in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 99. Lucille was a homemaker most of her life, always taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking cakes, pies and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lucille was a lifelong member of St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ in Mehlville, Missouri. Lucille was christened in St. Johns Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1914 by Rev. J.W. Gaebe. She recited her Confirmation verse Jeremiah 31:3 on Palm Sunday, April 1, 1928, at St. Johns E&R Church. Lucille married Paul D. McLain on Sunday, June 30, 1940, in St. Johns E&R Church with the Rev. A.F. Alberswerth presiding. Lucille (Wohlschlaeger) McLain Confirmation Verse Jeremiah 31:3 "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee." Confirmed Easter Sunday, April 8, 1928. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents Robert C. and Lena (Glenz) Wohlschlaeger; husband Paul D. McLain;four brothers Rob, Rowland, Richard and Russell Wohlschlaeger; three sisters Loretta Wohlschlaeger, Viola Webelhuth and Martha Berger. Those who are left to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy are her three children Gerald and wife Janet McLain of Cuba, Missouri, Joyce and husband Roger Coombs of Theodosia, Missouri, Sandra and husband Richard Lenz of Nashville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren David (Tammy) McLain, Monica (Fran) Godat, April (Clayton) Thebeau, James (Kimberly) Coombs, Jennifer (Michael) Williams, Julia (Scott) Steinbrueck, Christina (William) Harryman and Katherine (Gregory) Watts; great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friend of many. A Celebration of Life Service for Lucille will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ 11333 St. Johns Church Rd. (I-55 @ Lindbergh Blvd.) St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation with Lucille's family will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Lucille's cremated remains will be interred next to her husband Paul at Old St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ Cemetery. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ 11333 St. Johns Church Rd. St. Louis, MO 63123. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the McLain family.
