Lindell Clyde Staples of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, December 12, 1929 at Desloge, Missouri to the union of Clyde and Myrtle Lenora (nee: Hanson) Staples and left from this life on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Cuba Manor at the age of 86 years. Lindell was united in marriage to Betty Lee on October 31, 1948 at Berryman, Missouri. They are the proud parents of three children Janet, Lenny and Kenneth. Lindell traveled back and forth to St. Louis every day from 1951 till 1992, forty one years, while he was employed for Boeing formerly McDonnell Aircraft and then McDonnell Douglas. After retiring from Boeing, Lindell and Betty enjoyed traveling for several years. In his younger year Lindell went deer hunting every year. He always looked forwarded to spring so that he could plant a garden. He would share what he raised in his garden with his family and friends. He spent hours reading and was an avid baseball fan and the St. Louis Cardinals was his favorite team. Lindell volunteered many hours at the Cuba VFW and was made an honorary member. What he truly enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family and friends. Lindell was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Myrtle Staples, one grandson Joshua Wyatt Staples, two sisters Iva Jean Staples and Mary Lou Harmon, one brother James William Staples, one brother-in-law Dennis Lee, one sister-in-law June Garrison and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife, of nearly sixty eight years, Betty Staples of the home, one daughter Janet and husband Roger Taber of Cuba, two sons Lenny Staples of Cuba and Kenneth and wife Anna "Mert" Staples of Cuba, seven grandchildren; Shane and wife Tracy Staples of Cuba, Shari and husband Chris Alligood of Houston, Texas, Jodi Cook of Park Hills, Missouri, Bart and wife Michelle Staples of Washington, Missouri, Gabriel and wife Michelle Taber of Potosi, Vanessa Taber of Nashville, Tennessee and Tyler and husband Luke Rekie of Jefferson City, twelve great grandchildren; Kayla, Josh, Seth, Adam, Dylan, Alyson, Justin, Kiyah, Aden, Ava, Naomi and Eli, two brothers-in-law Walt and wife Joyce Lee and Jim and wife Joyce Lee, two sisters-in-law Norma Yoakum and Marian Bruton, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba with Pastor Roger Taber officiating. Special music will be "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone", "What A Day That Will Be", "When He Reached Down His Hand" and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells". Interment and prayers will follow at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Honored to be serving as pall bearers are Shane Staples, Gabriel Taber, Josh Staples, Adam Staples, Seth Cook and Dylan Cook. Memorial contributions may be made to Courtois Cemetery in Lindell's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Staples family.
