Larry P. Pilkenton of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, July 1, 1943 in Sullivan, Missouri to the union of Wiley B. and Edith (Nee: Cooper) Pilkenton. He left from this life, surrounded by his family, at his home on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the age of 75 years. Larry was a well-known General Contractor in Crawford County and surrounding areas. He was extremely talented at creating things and he could make anything out of wood and or rock. He built the beautiful home that he and Sharon lived in. Larry and Sharon co-owned Pilkenton Residential Care Center for several years. Larry enjoyed working, cutting wood, creating things, building things and helping Sharon. Larry was always busy. What he truly did treasure most in life, was spending time with his family and friends. Larry was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Wiley B. and Edith Pilkenton; wife Sharon (Nee: Holt) Pilkenton; two brothers Richard and Benjamin Pilkenton; one sister Alta "Pixie" Pilkenton and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his children; Tammy and husband Ray Massey, Scott and wife Christy Pilkenton, Tim Pilkenton and friend Betty Post, Rick and wife Dana Pilkenton, Amy Pilkenton all of Cuba, Samuel and wife Christine Mahaney of O'Fallon, Illinois, Andy Mahaney of Titusville, New Jersey, John and wife Shari Staples of St. James, Jeff and wife Gale Staples of Cuba, Jerry Staples of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren; Tony McClain, Shadia Massey, Amber, Jeremy, Josh and wife Jenny Pilkenton, Maddie Pilkenton, Tiffany Doney, Katy and husband Tito Soto, Hannah, Summer, Morgan and Harley Pilkenton, Evey, Abby and Chase Dickhoener, Jessica Leeper, Samuel and wife Megan Mahaney, Jr., Abigail, Sophie and Lily Mahaney, Jill and husband Nick Hayes, Shannon and husband Jason Blankenship, Chris Staples, Kim and husband Jacob Johnston, Adam Staples; great-grandchildren, Devonte, Cordasia, Autiana, Aven Lily, Aubrey, Emerson, Ben, Titus and Millie, Brooklynn, Letty, Shaelynn, Penelope, Riley; one great-great-granddaughter Isabella, one sister Betty Piezuch of Japan, Missouri,; trusted longtime friend Jody Sanders of St. James, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 5 till 7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Mizell Funeral Home with Andy Mahaney, officiating. As per his wishes, Larry will be cremated following the funeral service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Anaconda Cemetery. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Delbert Day Cancer Institute 1060 W. 10th St. Rolla, Missouri 65401 in Larry's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Pilkenton family
