Larry McMillian, 70, of Cuba, passed away, Monday, May 19, 2025, at his home in the comforting presence of his sister.
On October 27, 1954, Larry was born to the union of Herman Sidney McMillian and Irma J. (George) in Sullivan, Missouri.
Larry honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army.
He was a self-employed carpenter and flooring professional having done many projects for many residents of Cuba and the surrounding areas as well as helping his brother Mack when they owned “Action Carpet” in Cuba.
Larry marched to the beat of his own drum and was known for his unique sense of life. He was known to be a bit of a jokester and loved to “tell it like it is” with is tough love attitude. Larry loved spending time out on the lake at Indian Hills going fishing and really fishing anywhere he could. He took pride in his yardwork and maintained his impeccable landscaping and lawn. Larry loved to refer to himself as “Mr. Sullivan”. Larry was a huge Cardinal’s fan and enjoyed watching boxing with his dad in his earlier years. Larry was full of life in his own unique way, and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Irma McMillian; three brothers, Leroy, Mack & Joel McMillian; one sister, Carol Williams.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry McMillian and wife Ashley of Steelville; three daughters, Katy Crosby and husband Connor of Cuba, Lisa Richards and significant other Brad of Springfield and Brett Maples and significant other Chris of Springfield; four sisters, Pam Richardson of Cuba, Kathy Hayes of Cuba, Joann Busse of St. Clair and Karen Childress of Cuba; eight grandchildren, Harrison, Noah and Brooks McMillian of Cuba, Blaire, Hallie Crosby of Cuba, Jessica & Jerritt Keeney of Springfield and Samuel Maples of Springfield.
A private graveside service and burial of his cremated remains will take place.
