Kimmie Farris 'Mac' Mcginnis

Kimmie Farris "Mac" McGinnis of Springfield, Missouri was born Tuesday, October 4, 1955 in Gainesville, Missouri to Leroy and Ovia Marie McGinnis. He left this life surrounded by family on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital after a long courageous fight with heart disease. Mac was 57 years old. Mac graduated from Cuba High School in 1973. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1979 with a B.S.in Mechanical Engineering. While attending UMR Mac served on the St. Patrick's Board, played rugby, was a member of Tech Engine Club, GDI, and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. After graduating Mac moved to Kansas City to work as an engineer for Bendix. While in Kansas City Mac met Diana Wineinger; they were married on December 10, 1983 in Jefferson City, Missouri. They had two beautiful daughters, Mallory Elizabeth born in 1989 and Lauren Anne born in 1992. In 1996 the family moved to Springfield, Missouri where Mac worked for Reyco-Granning for the last 15 years. Mac loved to travel, read and watch movies. He was a huge KC Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats football fan. He was an avid scuba diver and racing enthusiast. He was very involved in his daughters activities and was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Mac was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, great uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Those who are left to treasure his memory and continue his legacy include his loving wife Diana McGinnis, two daughters, Mallory McGinnis of Overland Park, Kansas, Lauren Anne McGinnis of Cuba, one amazing granddaughter Kendall Elizabeth Martin of Cuba, one "to be" grandson Brody Alexander McGinnis, his adoring parents Leroy and Ovia Marie McGinnis, two brothers, Jack and wife Edna McGinnis and Don and wife Tina McGinnis, three sisters, Pat and husband Bob Bell, Renee' and husband Ed Bowen and Michele and husband Mike Beckemeyer all of Cuba. One sister-in-law Elaine Bond of Eldon, MO, two brothers-in-law Dean Wineinger of Jefferson City and Phil and wife Bev Ponder of Eldon, MO. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W. Washington, Cuba, Missouri from 4:00 till 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Church of Christ, 81 Merri Hill Drive, Cuba, Missouri. Interment and prayers will follow at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mid-America Transplant Services, 1110 Highlands Plaza Drive East, Suite 100, St. Louis, Missouri 63110 or Fair Haven Children's Home, 3132 N. Fairhaven Loop, Strafford, Missouri 65757 in Mac's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the McGinnis family.
