Jean Elizabeth Setzer

Jean Elizabeth Setzer of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 12, 1928, in Davisville, Missouri to the union of Thomas H. M. and Fannie M. (Wilkinson) Slade. She left this life surrounded by her family on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 95.

Jean was united in marriage to James L. Setzer on November 6, 1946, in Steelville, Missouri. To this union four children were born Carol, James W., Linda, and Patty.

Jean was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba. She loved going to church and taking care of her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and playing Rummy.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Thomas H. M. and Fannie M. (Wilkinson) Slade; husband James L. Setzer; one grandson James “Jimmy” Setzer; three brothers Harold, Tommy and Homer Slade; three sisters Janet Farrar, Betty Neely and JoAnn Gahr.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her four children Carol and husband Jim Knight of Cuba, James W. and wife Peggy Setzer of Belleville, Illinois, Linda and husband Tom Woodrome of Waterloo, Illinois, Patty and husband Paul Watson of Cuba; two sisters Earlyne (Bill) Seaver of Connecticut, Janice and husband Ronald Shrum of Sikeston; two brothers Joseph and wife JoAnn Slade of St. Ann, John and wife Marlene Slade of Berryman; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Moore, officiating.

Interment will follow at Czar Cemetery, Davisville, Missouri.
