Jason Alan Martin of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, February 26, 1984 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Alan and Phyllis (Nee: Koch) Martin. Jason left from this life on Monday, January 21, 2019, after battling cancer, at Phelps Health at the age of 34 years. Jason was the manager for The Hitching Post in Bourbon, and he had worked there since 2013. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, riding his side by side, his cattle and just being outdoors. Jason was a member of the Sullivan Eagles and was becoming a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge No. 312 A.F. and A.M. Jason was the first president of the Bourbon High School FFA program. He spent hours teaching others how to take care of their animals and how to show them at the county fair and the state fair. He was always willing to help with the 4-H and FFA kids. Jason was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He spent hours at East Office, visiting with old friends. He also had a patent pending for Buck Tales, a deer feed supplement. Jason loved his family, friends, life, his dog Stanley, Crown and Coke. He was a loving son, brother, husband, step father, step grandfather, grandson, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend of everyone he ever met. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Koch and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Jenita Martin of the home, three step children; Matt Duncan and fiancé Brittany Kelly of Viburnum, Brooklyn Duncan of Brunswick and Laine Duncan of Brunswick, three step grandchildren; Preston Kelly, Jase Ray and Lainee Duncan, parents Alan and Phyllis Martin of Cuba, one brother Jeff and wife Jill Martin of O'Fallon, Missouri, two nieces; Mia Martin and Addison Martin of O'Fallon, grandparents; Melva and Joe Martin of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Helen Koch of Ellisville, Missouri, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Kelly and wife Kim Williams of Cuba, Travis Williams of Cuba, Robert and wife Jeannie Kistler of Branson, Betty and husband Jerry Howard of Branson, Donnie and wife Rene Kistler of Ohio and Helen Kistler-Rew of Raymore, Missouri, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Simple Man", "Drink a Beer" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorns". Interment and prayers will follow at the Cherryville Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Honored to serve as pall bearers are Ryan Kimberlin, Mike Turnbough, Shane Staples, Lance Gerloff, Justin Blankenship and Joe Peart. Honorary pall bearers are Mark Harris, Rick Schrandt, Ron Lewis, Donnie Libhart, Charlie Gerloff and Matt Ketcherside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. They want to help others, who are going through cancer, by purchasing ensure and hats for them in memory of Jason. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Jason's family.
