James H. Vitali

James H. Vitali of Town and Country, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, was born Sunday, September 27, 1931 at Fanning, Missouri to the union of Sam and Mary (nee: Baccialli) Vitali. He left from this life on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Mari De Villa Senior Living, Town and Country, Missouri at the age of 86 years. Jim was united in marriage to Peggy J. Bridgewater on Saturday, November 3, 1951 at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba and they were the proud parents of Jackie, Tina, Tami and Jim. Jim proudly served in the United State Army from July 3, 1952 till April 2, 1954. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home from the Army, Jim went to work for Echo Supply as a machinist. He retired from Echo Supply after nearly thirty years of dedicated service. Jim was a devout member of Holy Cross Catholic Church his entire life. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and member of the American Legion Post. Jim spent his life playing the accordion. He had been a member of the Country Squires Band and the Cuban Combo's Band as the drummer. Music was a very important part of Jim's life. He spent years dressing up as a clown for church events and other children events. Jim treasured the times he could make people laugh, especially children. What Jim loved most in life was spending time Peggy and his family. Jim was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Mary Vitali, his beautiful wife of sixty-five years Peggy Vitali, one sisters Louise and husband Willard Campbell, one sister-in-law Judy Bruns and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving children; Jackie and husband Jimmy Mace of Rolla, Tina and husband Paul Peereboom of Australia, Tami and husband Mark Downing of Cuba and Jim and wife Laurinda Vitali of Salem, six grandchildren; Hannah and husband Beket Edwards of Rolla, Logan Mace of Rolla, Jessica Peereboom of Australia, Chad and wife Erica Downing of Cuba, Amanda and husband Mark Caravelli of St. Louis and Alicia Vitali of Lake of the Ozarks, eleven great grandchildren, one brother Joe and wife Mary Jane Vitali of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba. Celebration of Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Cuba. Honored to serve as pall bearers are Logan Mace, Mark Caravelli, Chad Downing, Beket Edwards, Fritz Weisehan and Joe Weisehan. Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba. Please wear your uniform for the visitation and funeral mass. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Vitali family.
