James M. Daehn, 65 of Cuba, Missouri known to many as Jim, passed away on September 28, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on April 14, 1961, in Rolla, Missouri.

Jim will be remembered as a hardworking farmer and cattleman whose life was closely tied to the land and to agriculture. He was also involved in cattle auctions, work that reflected both his knowledge of livestock and his connection to the farming community. A graduate of Cuba High School’s Class of 1979, he carried forward a life shaped by dedication, persistence, and a deep appreciation for rural life.

Beyond his work, Jim had a wide range of interests that reflected his spirited personality. He raised ostriches, a distinctive pursuit that spoke to his independent nature and willingness to do things his own way. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, and was an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA, causes that showed his encouragement of youth and the future of agriculture.

He is survived by his son, Dustin Daehn, and fiancée, Jenna Richterkessing. He is also survived by his former wife, Mellissa Daehn-Brown. Jim leaves his sisters, Elizabeth Kent and her significant other, Brent King, and Shannon Lang and her husband, Ron. He is also survived by his nephews Tom Kent and Pennie, Andy Kent, Brian Kent, Connor Lang and his fiancée, Emily Nichols, and Hunter Lang. He also leaves behind his aunts, Virgina Apperson and Glenda Warnhoff and his beloved fur baby Sassy.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Daehn, and his mother, Norma F. (Rector) Daehn.

Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him through his work, his interests, and his steadfast support of the agricultural community.

In keeping with his wishes, Jim will be cremated. Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 2-6 p.m. at Recklein Auditorium 304 N. Smith St. Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund in Jim's memory is being established by his family, with more details will follow.
