J. Harold Chapman

September 18, 1940 — November 3, 2019

James Harold Chapman of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, September 18, 1940 at Crawford County, Missouri to the union of Harold and Mina (Nee: Miller) Chapman. He left from this life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at St. James Living Center at the age of 79 years.

He was united in marriage to Florence Williams on October 20, 1958 at Holy Cross Catholic Church and they were the proud parents of James H., Theresa and Debbie.

Harold, as he was known by, worked as a welder for Echo Supply and then Wester Supply. He retired at the age of 58, after many years of dedicated service.

He was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and 3rd Order of St. Franciscan of Assisi. In his spare time and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the lake. What he enjoyed most after retiring, was sitting on a dock and fishing for hours.

Harold was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Nina Chapman, wife Florence Chapman, sister Marilyn L. Guy, sisters and brother-in-law Rose Mary and husband Jerry Ross and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his children, James H. and wife Dee Anna Chapman, Jr. of Cuba, Theresa and husband John Breese of Cuba and Debbie and husband Tom Stogsdill of Jefferson City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ashley and husband Tommy Schmelz, Alisha Chapman, Jessica and husband Jessie Spurgeon, Jason Whitworth, Dalton Stogsdill and Morgan Stogsdill; four great grandchildren, Chase Schmelz, Chasidy Schmelz, Ellie Spurgeon, Emily Spurgeon, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and wife June Williams of Fort Scott, Florida and Morris and wife Lois Williams of Holts Summit, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

Celebration of funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba with Father Dan Lueckenotte as celebrant.

Interment and prayers will follow at Delhi Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba in Harold's memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Chapman family.
