Irma Jean Nelson

February 12, 1932 — January 8, 2021

Irma Jean Nelson of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of James and Hattie (Longworth) Crews on February 12, 1932 in Kirkwood, Missouri. She left from this life on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 88 years.

Jean retired from the Crawford County R2 School District after twenty plus years of dedicated service as a cook. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and everyone loved her cooking. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and having a cold one. She will be truly missed, by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents James and Hattie (Longworth) Crews; four sisters Louise Benson, Marie Brown, Eleanor Garlich and Shirley Garlich; one brother James Crews.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her son Ron and wife Darlene Nelson of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren Ronnie Nelson, Jr. of St. Clair, Missouri, Angie and husband Kyle Treadwell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ryan Nelson and companion April Geisler of Springfield, Missouri; six great-grandchildren Alex and Tyler Nelson, Banx and Bentley Treadwell, Kloe and Kyan Nelson; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 1:00 p.m. at Bowen Cemetery, Redbird, Missouri with Pastor Don Martin, officiating.

The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Nelson family.
