Herbert A. Moeckli

Herbert A. Moeckli of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of August and Caroline (Walz) Moeckli on Wednesday, May 5, 1926 in Overland, Missouri and left from this life on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 87. Herbert was united in marriage to Juanita Wood on March 22, 1948 and to this union three sons were born William, Martin and Richard. Herbert retired from the Overland Police Department after 27 years of dedicated service, having obtained the rank of Lt. Col. serving as the Assistant Chief. He was a 60 year Mason and Past Master and member of Cuba Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Overland-Occidental Lodge #623 A.F. & A.M. and Cuba United Methodist Church. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents August and Caroline (Walz) Moeckli; two sisters Marilyn Morris and Evelyn Moeckli. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife of sixty-five years Juanita Moeckli of Cuba, Missouri; three sons William Moeckli of St. Charles, Missouri, Martin and wife Paula Moeckli of Edwardsville, Illinois, Richard Moeckli of St. Ann, Missouri; two granddaughters Alyce and husband Brad Green, Leslye and husband Damion Pisciotta all of St. Charles, Missouri; four great-grandchildren Lilly, Emma, Nicholas and Megan; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. and Masonic service 6:30 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 11:00 a.m. at the Cuba United Methodist Church with Pastor Joseph Frana, officiating. Interment will follow at Swiss Evangelical Reformed Cemetery, Swiss, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Cuba United Methodist Church 903 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri 65453. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Moeckli family.
