Helen L. Brown of Cuba, Missouri was born May 30, 1932 at, Dixon, Missouri to the union of Garrett C. and Edna E. (Nee: Ragan) Dickens and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age of 82 years. Helen was united in marriage to Cecil R. Brown on March 19, 1950 at Cuba, Missouri and to this union five children were born Della, Debra, Dennis, Gale and Teresa. Helen worked seventeen years for the Cuba Shoe Factory and in 1971 she went to work as a Punch Press for Schwitzer in Rolla, Missouri. After twenty one years of dedicated service, with Schwitzer, Helen retired in 1992. Helen was a member of the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church for fifty three years and nine months, making her the longest attending member of the church. Helen was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club and TOPS. Helen was known for her baking especially cherry pies and stollens. Helen enjoyed Christmas and would start shopping on the 26th of December for next year. Helen treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and she loved going to church and worshiping the Lord. Helen never left the house unless her hair was perfect, makeup on and she would be dressed impeccably. Helen had a smile that would light up a room and to know her was to love her. Helen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend of everyone she met. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen is preceded in death by her parents Garrett and Edna Dickens, husband Cecil R. Brown, daughter Della Fern Brown, two grandson Matthew Lee Harvey and Barkley Hudson, two brothers infant Louie Russell Dickens and Carl and wife Shirley Dickens, brothers-in-law Floyd J. Williams and Ed Kitchen, sister-in-law Sharon Dickens other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her four loving children Debra and husband Walter Wolloughby of Vienna, Missouri, Dennis Brown of Cuba, Gale and husband Jeff Staples of Cuba and Teresa Chew and significant other Scott Grant of Springfield, twelve grandchildren Monica and husband Dan Hewkin of Cuba, Sheila and husband A.J. Hall of Park City, Utah, Cody Callahan of Liberty, Missouri, Brady and wife Rene Hudson of Lacoma, Missouri, Ben Hudson of Salem, Missouri, Trevor and wife Mackenzie Brown of Ozark, Missouri, Daylene Brown and significant other Kelly Jones of Fredericktown, Missouri, Kimberly and husband Jacob Johnston of Fenton, Missouri, Christopher Staples of Cuba, Melinda Sanders of St. Louis, Rachael and husband Dustin Cooper of Springfield, Missouri and Robert "Bobbie" Eugene Chew, III of Springfield, Missouri, twenty one great grandchildren Kayla, Cheyenne, Jermey, Nathan, Kathryn, Brooklyn, Eli, Garrett, Brayden, Logan, Gavin, Olyvia, Noah, Braxton, Emerson, Benjamin, Talin, Ian, Mallory, Drake and Nicholes, seven brothers and sisters Ruby Williams, Paul and wife Gerry Dickens, Mabel Kitchen, Leon and wife Donna Dickens, Lucille and husband Gary Campbell and Ruth Ann Dickens all of Cuba, three sisters-in-law Gladys Smart, Velva McPherson and Mamie McCann all of St. Charles, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church, 707 Myrtle Avenue, Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Special music will be "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", "I'll Fly Away", "Dancing in the Sky", "Tears in Heaven" and "See You Again". Interment and prayers will follow at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Jermey Hewkin, Jacob Johnston, Trevor Brown, Don Isbell, Kelly Jones and Chris Staples. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen's favorite charity the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Brown family.
