Geraldine E. 'Gerry' Bouckaert

February 16, 1929 — December 4, 2013

Geraldine "Gerry" E. Bouckaert of Sullivan formerly of Bourbon was born February 16, 1926 at Brazil Creek, Missouri to the union of Henry and Gladys (Nee: Kimberlin) Merkel and left from this life on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 87 years. Gerry was united in marriage to William "Bill" Bouckaert on August 18, 1951 at Bourbon, Missouri and to this union one son David was born. Gerry worked as a cashier for the I.G.A. Store in Bourbon in her younger years. She then worked for the City of Bourbon as an assistant clerk and she spent many years helping at the Christian Thrift Store in Bourbon. Gerry was a member of the Lady's VFW of Sullivan Auxiliary and was part of the Lutheran Ladies Aide. She enjoyed baking, cooking, working in the yard, quilting and crocheting. She spent hours, days, weeks, months and years spoiling her grandchildren. Gerry was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gerry is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Gladys Merkel, husband William "Bill" Bouckaert, one sister Marlene Asher and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy is her son David and wife Tonya Bouckaert of Spring Bluff, Missouri, five grandchildren; Dustin King, Derek King, William Bouckaert, Betsy and husband Sam Sykes and Jett Bouckaert, five great grandchildren Molli, Luke, Maddie, Piper and Emilia, two brothers Curtis and Forest Merkel and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 3:00 till 6:00 PM at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 642 E. Pine Street, Bourbon, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 642 E. Pine Street, Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Joe Pederson officiating. Special music will be played by Karen Ivie. Interment and prayers will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church in Gerry's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Bouckaert family.
