George W. Green

January 22, 1923 — February 17, 2018

George W. Green of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, January 22, 1923 at Commerce, Missouri to the union of Fred and Addie (Nee: Beashears) Green and left from this life on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at his home in Cuba at the age of 95 years. George proudly served in the United State Army Air Force during WWII. George entered the Army on February 10, 1943, was an airplane mechanic and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1946. After the Army, George returned home and went to work for Monsanto. After twenty-seven years of dedicated service George retired from Monsanto and moved to Crawford County. George enjoyed hunting, working in the yard, mowing grass, splitting wood and just being outdoors. George loved all his dogs and they were all named Tiny. He would spend his bad weather days in his work shop creating things. He would make picture frames, canes and many other items. Some he sold and something he gave away. George was a member of the Mystic Shrine - Moolah Temple of St. Louis from November 18, 1961 till December 31, 2003. He was also a member of the NRA, Masonic Lodge and the VFW. George had a great sense of humor, smoked a pipe and was a good pool player. What George enjoyed most was spending time with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Addie Green, two brothers Fred Green, Jr. and James Albert Green and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving friend of twelve years Colleen Lindsey of the home and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Tuff" by Ace Cannon. Interment and prayers will be at 2:00 pm Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1215 Lemay Ferry Road, Lemay, Missouri. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving George's family.
