Gary Lee Callahan of Viburnum, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, was born Saturday, December 14, 1953 at Steelville, Missouri to the union of Marvin and Ruth (nee: Barton) Callahan. He left from this life on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Stonecrest Nursing Home, Viburnum, Missouri at the age of 65 years.
In his younger years Gary worked for Pepsi, Cupples Manufacturing, the St. Louis Board of Education in the maintenance department and he did street ministries; passing out tracks. At one point in his life he owned and operator a handyman business.
Gary enjoyed the spring and summer when he could plant flowers. He was an avid reader, great admirer of cats and he walked everywhere he went. He would tell anyone, who would listen, about the Lord, his daughter and grandchildren. Gary loved all the Bible Prophecies. What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his sisters.
Gary was a treasured son, beloved brother and brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, father, grandfather, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by his sisters and all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Ruth Callahan; two sisters, Joyce Baker and Barbara Callahan; one niece Karen Warren and other family and friends.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his daughter, Brigette Renee; two grandchildren, Brooke and Jordan Dennon; loving five sisters, Deloris and husband Douglas Warren of Steelville, Shirley and husband Harrison Brown of Cherryville, Pam and husband William Huggins of Bourbon, Jan Callahan of Cuba, Cindy and husband Darrell Phipps of Union, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home Pastor Harrison Brown, Shirley Brown, Deloris Warren, Pam Huggins, Jan Callahan, Cindy Phipps officiating. Special music will be "Scarlet Purple Rose", "Everybody Will Be Happy", "Family Bible", "One More Valley" and "When They Ring the Golden Bells".
Private interment will be held at Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cuba Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry in Gary's memory.
The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Gary's family.
