Gary Lea Callahan

Gary Lea Callahan of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, July 20, 1949 at Firmin Desloge Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Norman George and Louella (Nee: Green) Callahan and left from this life, suddenly on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 68 years. Gary was united in marriage to Catherine Saager on September 4, 1966 at Cherryville, Missouri and to this union four children were born; Patricia, Darrell, Norma and Stephanie. Catherine passed away on November 25, 1993. On January 11, 2002 Gary was united in marriage to Barb Stovall (Nee: Licklider) at the Faith Chapel of Cuba. This union added a son, Sam Stovall, who he loved as his own. Gary worked at Brown Shoe Company in Steelville for thirty-one years and he retired from there in 1995. Gary loved life, loved his family and loved spending time with his friends. He truly never met a stranger. Gary was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend of everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Louella Callahan, wife Catherine Callahan, grandson David Wells Jr. and Jeremy Turnbough, great granddaughter Calynne Harmony Diehl, brother Larry Callahan, sisters-in-law Tammy Callahan and Tina Wright, son-in-law Ray Warden and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Barb Callahan of the home, children Patricia (Nee: Callahan) Hayes and Anthony of Cuba, Darrell and wife Trish Callahan of Steelville, Norma and husband Jeff Turnbough of Cherryville, Stephanie Warden of Steelville and Sam and wife Mindy Stovall of Cuba, grandchildren; Rebeca and husband Brian Wagner of Missouri, Ashley Wells and Stevie of Rolla, Travis and wife Jessica Callahan of Cherryville, Julia and husband Wesley Diehl of Cherryville, Caleb Callahan and Jenna of St. Louis, Justin and wife Lacey Turnbough of Cherryville, Dalton and wife Wendy Turnbough of Cherryville, Rebecca and husband Tom Kadlez of St. Louis, Dustin and wife Sheena Warden of Steelville, Dylan and wife Liz Warden of Cherryville, Devin Warden and Kristi of Steelville, Dakota Warden of Steelville, Haylee, Zoey, Braylon, Maizy and Toby Stovall all of Cuba, fourteen great grandchildren, brothers; Donnie and wife Betty Callahan of Steelville, Kenneth and wife Loretta Callahan of Cuba and Delbert and wife Dawn Callahan of Cherryville, sisters; Linda Ferris of Cuba, Mary Ann and husband James Enke of Cuba and Judy Callahan of Cuba, sisters-in-law Carol and husband Lloyd Eaton of Cuba and Debra Peterson of Missouri, brothers-in-law Ronni Kline of Illinois and John Saager of Illinois, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 3:00 till 6:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Brother Bob Coleman officiating. Bob and Carol Coleman will be singing "Daddy's Hands" and "Amazing Grace". Special recorded music will be "Amen". Interment and prayers will follow at the Martin Cemetery, Cherryville. Honored to be serving as pall bearers will be Travis Callahan, Caleb Callahan, Justin Turnbough, Dalton Turnbough, Dustin Warden, Dylan Warden, Dakota Warden, Devin Warden and honorary pall bearers will be Braylon Stovall and Toby Stovall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Callahan family. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Callahan family.
