Courtney & Evelyn were married 70 years on 26 June 2013; he died 3 days later. During their marriage, they owned and operated a restaurant, service station, and cab business in Cuba (what now is Missouri Hick). They moved to St Louis and later to Jennings, MO where Courtney drove for ABF Trucking Company while Evelyn stayed home to raise three kids, staying involved in their activities. In 1966 they moved to a farm outside of Cuba where Evelyn would tell everyone how he put her on a farm to take care of cattle, and learn how to cut and bale hay, but she had grown up in the city and knew nothing about farming. They sold the farm in 1989 and moved into Cuba, where she stayed busy with First Baptist Church of Cuba, grandkids and continued making handmade anniversary, birthday cards for and friends, which became her legacy as a 'Harris Hallmark Card'.

She was involved in family genealogy (without a computer). She had collections of pens, & marbles, she stayed busy with gardening, canning, cattle and other farm chores. She was always working. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cuba, MO. and volunteered working in many church activities.
