Edward I. Lorraine

January 24, 1934 — May 8, 2017

Edward Lorraine of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, January 24, 1934 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Edmund and Viola (Nee: Chapie) Lorraine and left from this life, surrounded by family, on Monday, May 8, 2017 at his home in Cuba at the age of 83 years. Edward proudly served in the United States Army from October 1, 1956 till October 2, 1958 and he earned the Good Conduct Medal. Edward started his working career in St. Louis as a cement mason in the early 1960's. During his career he owned and operated Lorraine Brothers Concrete with his brother, worked for Vee-jay Concrete in the 1980's and ended his working career, helping his son Jerry, at Lorraine Concrete. Edward was a cement mason for forty plus years. In his spare time he played the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass and the harmonica. Edward was a country music singer his whole life. He enjoyed old cars, especially his 71 GTO, 67 Plymouth Satellite and a 65 Ford Galaxy. He loved the fact that he was the winner twice of the Lorraine High Five Tournament. To know Edward was to know that he was a very generous man. He was always willing to help everyone and anyone. What he truly loved most in life was his family and spending time with his friends. Edward was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, companion and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Viola Lorraine, one son George Lorraine, five siblings; Marie Korte, Vernon "Bruce" Lorraine, Doris Blue, Robert Lorraine and Mary Lorraine and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving companion of thirty five years Carol Moss of the home, three children; Toni Lafferty of Mansfield, Texas, Gerald "Jerry" Lorraine of Cuba and Timothy Lorraine of Cuba, seven grandchildren; Amy Collier and fiancé Cary Goss of Blair, Nebraska, Melissa Ann Lorraine of St. James, Erron Lafferty and friend Jeremy Frazer of Waxahachie, Texas, Matthew and wife Lacey Lorraine of Steelville, Mark and wife Jennifer Lorraine of Steelville, Chelsey and husband Dustin Heiskell of Republic, Missouri and Grant Lorraine of Cuba, eleven great grandchildren; Jacob, Madison, Vincent, Rilee, Coi, Madden, Brodie, Colbee, Gavin, Lance and Hunter, three sisters; Joan and husband Frank Barteau of Florissant, Missouri, Catherine and husband Gary Weller of Sedalia, Missouri and Patricia and husband Kenny Hammers of Steelville, two brothers; John Lorraine of Florissant, Missouri and Mike and wife Brenda Lorraine of Steelville, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Celebration of funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba, 415 W School Street, with Father Rich Boever as celebrant. Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice in Edward's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Lorraine family.
