Donald E. "Donny"
Kean
September 15, 1971 – March 12, 2026
Donald E. "Donny" Kean, of Bolivar and formerly of Leasburg, peacefully departed this life on March 12, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 54. Born on September 15, 1971, in Salem, Missouri, Donny’s warmth and kindness touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A man who never met a stranger, Donny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was casting a line at his favorite fishing hole, laughing with friends during Monday's bowling, or exploring the aisles of Bass Pro in quiet wonder, his genuine spirit was evident. He cherished his collections of camouflage (Mossy Oak) items, cheered passionately for the Kansas City Chiefs, and was captivated by the thrilling sprint car races.
Donny was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Gilbert Lee and O. Imogene (Koepke) Kean, and his sister, Jacqueline Lafferty.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Gilbert Lee (Patti) Kean, Jr. of Columbia; Tammy (Don) Hutchison of Sullivan; Margaret (Mark) Disbrow of Rolla; and Lori (Terry) Santonge of Wichita, Kansas; brother in law Dennis Lafferty of Fair Grove; He also leaves behind dear caregivers and friends from Firefly— Jeff, Dennison, Navara, Brenna, and Tony—along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Family and friends are invited to honor Donny’s life at a visitation on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory. Tony Amato will officiate. In a heartfelt tribute to Donny's passions, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Kansas City Chiefs or camouflage attire and remember Donny will know if it’s not Mossy Oak.
Interment will take place at Lea Cemetery in Leasburg, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to your local animal shelter, reflecting Donny’s generous and caring spirit.
The Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Donald E. "Donny" Kean as they celebrate a life filled with warmth, friendship, and joy. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
