Della Mae 'Gran' Baum

November 19, 1919 — March 6, 2013

Della Mae Baum of Cuba formerly of Salem was born November 19, 1919 at Stone Hill, Missouri to the union of Ernest C. "Mike" and Lucinda "Cindy" Maledy and left on her journey surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Cuba Manor at the age of 93 years. Della Mae was united in marriage to Stanley L. She was a lifelong member of the Second Baptist Church of Salem, served on the Auxiliary Board for the Salem Memorial Hospital for many years, was the coordinator of the Maledy-Teague reunion for 25 years and always enjoyed gospel music. "Gran" as she has been known for the last many years, treasured the time that she got to spend with her grandchildren. She spent hours and drove many miles to spend time with her "little one" Kayla. Gran was there for dance recitals, softball games, parades, musical concerts and kept her promise and was there for high school graduation. She always dressed to the nine, read her bible daily and believed that family was the most important thing on earth. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, mother-in-law, "Gran", aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, cousin and a very dear friend. She will be forever remembered and never forgotten by all of us who knew and loved her. Gran is preceded in death by her parents Mike and Cindy Maledy, husband Stanley Baum, son Sonny Baum, two sisters Emmaline Garbusch and Louise and husband Charlie Alexander, five brothers Carl, Paul and wife Marie, Chub, Clair and Jahue Maledy, special niece Patty Villines and other relatives and friends. Gran leaves the gift of love and memories to Kayla Baum, Curt and Sandi Baum, Tiffany Baum, Milynnia and Jack Plakenhorn, Brittney Plakenhorn, Lesa and Don Mizell, Amanda and Jaime Mizell, her son Robert and wife Charlotte Baum, brothers George and Liz Maledy and Calvin Maledy, all the staff of Cuba Manor, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousin and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 from 2:00 PM till 6:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cuba Manor Candy Fund in Gran's memory in care of Mizell Funeral Home. "On Wednesday evening as Gran boarded the last train for home, the loved ones surrounding her heard the final note of life's melody and knew in our heart Gran was not singing, simply going aboard. So it's "Good night dear Gran and we'll see you in the morning". All services under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba.
