David R. Farris of Bourbon, Missouri was born March 5, 1943 at Hinch, Missouri to the union of Richard "Ed" and Pauline Elizabeth (Nee: Baker) Farris and left from this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 70 years. David was united in marriage to Barbara Havelka on June 1, 1963 at Bem, Missouri and to this union two children were born Linda and Kevin. David worked for Pearidge Mining Company, formerly Meramec Mining Company, for nearly 39 years as an underground foreman and retired as a welder on top. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and welding. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Pauline Farris, two brother-in-laws Don Davis and Jim Waits and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife of 50 years Barbara Farris of the home, daughter Linda and husband Ron Martin of Bourbon, son Kevin and wife Glenda Farris of Bourbon, four grandchildren Ronnie Martin and fiancé Tori Bobbitt, Evin, Kendra and Aaron Farris all of Bourbon, three sisters Edwina and husband James Britton of Cuba, Rosemary and husband Luther Basham of Bland and Laverna Davis of Rolla, one half sister Ava Waits of Portland, Oreagon, brother-in-law Vernon and wife Carol Havelka of Owensville, aunt Sadie Woods of Sullivan, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 3:00 till 7:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Special music will be "How Great Thou Art", "In the Garden" and "I'll Fly Away". Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Vernon Havelka, Hook Basham, Roger Havelka, Dale Havelka, Rich Fleenor and James Britton. Interment and prayers will be 10:00 AM Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in David's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Farris family.
