Darrell Lee Callahan

May 20, 1954 — February 26, 2020

Darrell Lee Callahan of Steelville, Missouri was born Thursday, May 20, 1954 at Steelville, Missouri to the union of Willis and Geraldine (nee: Turnbough) Callahan. He left from this life, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Cuba Manor at the age of 65 years.

Darrell was united in marriage to Barbara Callahan on Friday, April 28, 1972 at Center Ridge Pentecostal Church, Cherryville. They were the proud parents of two daughters: Kimberly and Angela.

Darrell loved being outdoors. He spent his life cutting wood, coon hunting, raising coon dogs, taking care of his donkeys and many trips to the creek. He raised a baby squirrel "Punken" and he raised many baby coons. He loved to spend his evenings sitting on his parent's back porch and visiting with them about his day.

He would listen to the scanner every day and his favorite shows to watch were westerns, Andy Griffith Show, Benny Hill, Three Stooges and The Twilight Zone. What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his beautiful wife, loving daughters, amazing grandchildren and his family and friends.

Darrell was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife Barb Callahan; father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin and Ruth Callahan, two niece Sherry Callahan and Karen Warren; two sisters-in-law Joyce Baker and Deloris Warren; brother-in-law Gary Callahan and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving daughters Kimberly "Kim" and husband Cleve Holland of Cuba, Angela "Angie" Callahan of Cuba; two amazing grandchildren Samuel "Sam" Holland and Cheyanne Holland both of Cuba; parents who spoiled him greatly Willis and Geraldine Callahan of Steelville; one brother Junior and wife Peg Callahan of Steelville; one sister Brenda and husband Keith Neff of Cuba; four sisters-in-law Shirley and husband Harrison Brown of Cherryville, Jan Callahan of Cuba, Pam and husband William Huggins of Bourbon, Cindy and husband Darrell Phipps of Union; two brothers-in-law Douglas Warren of Steelville and Dennis Baker of Ozark, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music will be "Precious Memories", "Amazing Grace", "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" by Johnny Setzer, Shirley Brown, Pam Huggins, Cindy Phipps and Sam Holland on the saxophone.

Interment and prayers will follow at the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.

Honored to serve as casket bearers are Rodney Neff, Greg Neff, Cleve Holland, Leroy Callahan, Luke Callahan and Leon Callahan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Friday Backpack Program in Darrell's memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Darrell's family.
