Clifford Spencer Fancher

Clifford Spencer Fancher of Cuba, Missouri was born September 10, 1946 at Rapid City, South Dakota to the union of Fred and Doris (Nee: Bowdish) Fancher and left from this life on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 71 years. Cliff was united in marriage to Melinda "Mindy" Eggemeyer on April 19, 1987. They were the proud parents of Bridgette, Brian, Herbert, Michael, Holly and Tonya. Cliff left home at the age of 13 and hitchhiked across the country to Los Angeles, California. His first job was stacking 100-pound bags of potatoes. On June 15, 1966 Cliff was inducted into the United States Army. He proudly served until May 2, 1968. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Cliff also completed the Code of Conduct and Chemical, Biological, Radiological (CBR) Training. He received a Purple Heart while serving in the Army. Cliff retired in June 2010 from Parish Leasing, Freeburg, Illinois as a truck driver. He had been a truck driver for nearly all his adult life. Cliff never met a stranger and he would make friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed watching football and his favorite past time was "Girl Watching". Cliff loved life, his family and his friends. He was truly the Best Grandpa. Cliff was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend of everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cliff is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Doris Fancher, the couple Cliff called mom and dad; Herb and Joyce Eggemeyer and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of thirty years Melinda "Mindy" Fancher of the home, six children Bridgette and husband Jason Buffington, of Gretna, Nebraska, Brian and wife Mollie Fancher of Cuba, Herbert Fancher of Cuba, Michael and wife Kelly Fancher of Cuba, Holly and husband Kenton Gedwed of Irving, Texas and Tonya Fancher of Addison, Texas, nine grandchildren; Grace, Conner, Copper, Gavin, Maddie, Carolyn, Garrett, Clint and Claire and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5:30 till 7:30 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Go Rest High on that Mountain", "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Full military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, in Cliff's memory. In keeping with Cliff's wishes, he was cremated. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Fancher family.
