Chilton 'Chilly' Workman Jr.

February 17, 1923 — December 18, 2014

Chilton Workman, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Chilton and Lulu (Andrae) Workman on Saturday, February 17, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 91. Known to his friends and family as "Chilly", Chilly was united in marriage to the love of his life, Frieda Stubblefield, on March 15, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. They had one son, David Chilton Workman with whom Chilly worked side by side in the family construction business for many years. He served his Country honorably in the Merchant Marines during WWII traveling to many of the areas of conflict. In addition to founding Workman Construction Company in 1953, Chilly was also a member of Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church, Cuba Masonic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M., O.E.S. Chapter #398, Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine Temple. In 1963, Chilly and Frieda along with Chilly's father in law "Dad Stubblefield" and Lee Smith constructed Stubblefield Lake off Oak Hill Road in Cuba, MIssouri. Chilly and Frieda have lived there ever since and many family members and friends have learned to swim and ski on this lake. Chilly believed life was an adventure and he loved swimming and skiing, dancing, singing, and spending time with his family and friends. Chilly will be remembered for his spirit, his fierce loyalty and his smile. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife of 68 years Frieda Workman of Cuba, Missouri; one son David and wife Judy Workman of Cuba, Missouri; two grandchildren David and wife Tricia Lynn Workman, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri, Tricia Ann Workman and husband Jon Wolters of Jefferson City, Missouri; four great-grandchildren Cloe and Conor Workman, Norah and Jace Wolters; one sister-in-law Mary Alice Stubblefield of Cuba, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and host of many friends. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church Hwy. 19 & Hwy. C, Cuba, Missouri. Masonic Service will be conducted on Sunday, December 28, 2014 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor Amy England, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Trinity Chapel Presbyterian Church. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Workman family.
