Charles Lester Schratz, Sr.

Charles Lester Schratz, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born November 5, 1920 in Naylor, Missouri to the union of August John & Ida Mae Schratz (nee: McKinney) and left from this life on June 6, 2006 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 1 day. Charlie retired as a Machinist from Matco Machine Shop in 1981, he also had previously worked for Frisco Railroad. Charlie was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church, Cuba Senior Center where he had served on the Board of Directors, Indian Hills Mens Club (Past President), delivered Meals On Wheels, he enjoyed fishing and was known in the community as the "Town Comedian" or better known as "Chucklin Charlie". Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Florine Schratz (nee: Copeland), two brothers Jewell and Marvin Schratz, two sisters Mary Louise Barnett and Virginia Garrett. Those who are left to mourn his passing are his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Mahoney-Schratz, son Charles L. Schratz, Jr. three daughters Sue (the late Mike) Benson, Judy (Jack) Goedeke and Jacque (Jack) Achurch, one sister Margie Birch, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation: Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 West Washington St. Cuba, Missouri Funeral: Friday, June 9, 2006 10:00 a.m. at Cuba United Methodist Church 903 West Washington St. Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Paul Lathum, offiaciating. Interment: Friday 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, Affton, Missouri. Memorials: In lieu of flowers would be appreciated to Cuba United Methodist Church.
