Charles D. Ballard of Cuba, Missouri was born October 12, 1932 at Hornersville, Missouri to the union of Glen and Vada (Nee: Pendleton) Ballard and left from this life on Monday, September 10, 2012 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 79 years 10 months and 28 days. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy from May 1950 till August 1959. He retired in the late 1980's as an accountant for the state of California after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Cuba VFW Post #7147 and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, reading and was an amazing baker. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his lifelong friends Zig and wife Nancy Laska of Florida and California, Tony and Carol Ledesma of Cuba, Corey and Kim Ray of St. James, brother-in-law Sam Doyle of Cuba, two nieces Reba and husband Tom Picard and Sandra Kruse of Monroe, North Carolina, great nieces, great nephews and friends.. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 5 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba. Interment, prayers with Full Military Honors will follow at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tri County Humane Society of St. James or the Cuba Senior Center. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Charles' family.
