Cathern M. Hensler of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, December 24, 1938 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Stephano and Evalyn Gianfrancesco and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2017 at her home in Cuba at the age of 78 years. Cathy was united in marriage to Marion L. Hensler on July 7, 1956 at Overland, Missouri and to this union four children were born; David, Denise, Teresa and Tamara. Cathy spent years cleaning for people, working at Briarwood Nursing Home, volunteering at Cuba Head Start, helping others but what she did her whole life was take care of her husband, family and home. She loved to shop, travel, go for walks and always wore flip flops, even in the snow. Cathy was the most positive person you could ever meet, and her laughter was contagious. She belonged to the "Three Mile Club", "Red Hat Ladies" and "Black Bra Birthday Club". Cathy played scrabble and bingo nearly every week and you could find her at the Holy Cross fish fry, working at the desert table each year during lent. Fifty-two weeks a year there was Christmas items up at Cathy's house. She worked all year getting ready for the family Christmas party and she always made sure there was a present for everyone. What she treasured most in life was spending time with her family and her friends. Cathern was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, step grandmother, step great-grandmother, sister-in-law and friend of everyone. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Stephano and Evalyn Gianfrancesco, husband Marion Hensler, two daughters; Teresa Holtmann and Tamara Middendorf, two grandchildren; Brandon Middendorf and Cristen Holtmann, sisters Marie "Beverly" and husband Neal Covinski, sisters-in-law: Ellie Gianfrancesco, Betty Fredrick, Doris Hensler and Dorothy and husband Roy Sandoz, brothers-in-law Raymond Hensler, Eugene and wife Esther Hensler and Kenneth Hensler and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children; David L. and wife Shannon Hensler of Ballwin, Missouri and Denise and husband Michael Cochran of St. Peters, Missouri, eight grandchildren; Timothy and wife Alicia Frohbieter of Cuba, Melissa and husband Greg Kerr of Chesterfield, Missouri Erica Magers of Jefferson City, Missouri, Jacob and wife Hollyann Middendorf of St. Peters, Missouri, Jeremy and wife Katie Middendorf of O'Fallon, Missouri, Kailyn Hensler of Denver, Colorado, Taylor Hensler of Ballwin and Allison Hensler of Ballwin, two step grandchildren; Crystal Miller of O'Fallon, Missouri and Adam Cochran of Kansas City, Missouri, nine great grandchildren; Noah, Dalton, Brea, Damien, Devon, Daelyn, Dykari, Owen and Mason, one step great grandchild Kendall, brother Pietro Gianfrancesco, in-laws; Mary Hensler of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Robert and wife Janet Hensler of St. Charles, Missouri, Frank Hensler, Jr of St. Charles, Thomas and wife Tina Hensler of Warrenton, Missouri, Shirley Coyne of Maryland Heights, Alice and husband Ed Raney of Wentzville and Jane and husband Jerry Farmer of Arkansas, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Celebration of Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba with Father Rich Boever as Celebrant. Interment and prayers will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Cuba Animal Control, 224 Enterprise Drive, Cuba, Missouri 65453, in Cathern's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Hensler family.
