Catherine R. "Cathy" Edelen of Cuba, Missouri was born September 11, 1946 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Charles and Mary (Nee: Tucker) Desemone and left from this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 69 years. Cathy married Charles "Charlie" Edelen on April 11, 1987 at St. Louis, Missouri. They enjoyed twenty three years of marriage before Charlie passed away on December 26, 2010. Cathy worked in the accounting department for the Dana Brake Parts Company when it was located in Cuba and she retired in 2007 when the plant closed. Cathy was currently volunteering as the church secretary at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba and she was a devout member of the church. She was a member of the Tri-C Club of Cuba and many other organizations. In her spare time Cathy enjoyed reading, playing solitaire and Candy Crush. Cathy spoiled her cat Pita for the last sixteen years and she truly enjoyed living and spending time on the Indian Hills Lake. Cathy spent her life taking care of others. What she loved most was her family, friends and church family. Cathy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law and friend of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Desemone, husband Charlie Edelen and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children Christine Cool and Kyle St. Peter of Clayton, Missouri, William Cool of California, Ronald and wife Mary Edelen of Wentzville, Missouri and Jeff Edelen of Toronto, Canada, ten grandchildren Bryan Hope, Ray Reay, Jennifer Edelen, Kyle Miller, Kelly Bannister and husband Reese, Amanda Edelen, Taylor Edelen, Candice Edelen, Carly Edelen and Connor Edelen, five great grandchildren Tatum, Gene, Ronnie, Lucas and Hayden, two sisters Carol and husband Ted Kuhlengel of St. Louis County and Mary Ann Noce of Webster Groves, Missouri, one brother Mel Desemone of St. Louis, two sisters-in-law Barbara Halter and husband Al of St. Louis County and Patricia "Patty" and husband Frank Mullen of Doniphan, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba with Father Rich Boever as celebrant. PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH A luncheon will follow the mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Cuba, Missouri. In keeping with Cathy's wishes she will be cremated following the Celebration of Mass. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7148 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63105 for masses, Holy Cross School or charity of choice in Cathy's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Cathy's family.
